Compliance Audits and Record Keeping
AQMS can develop comprehensive environmental compliance audit programs for your facility. This includes preparation of procedures, guidelines, and materials for routine use at all facilities by the client. Phase I of an audit program has the following major components:

Exposure evaluation of the facility to turn the audit information into effective Inspection of the facility’s operations to identify environmentally relevant activities

Exposure evaluation of the facility to turn the audit information into effective Comparison of the environmental compliance with applicable regulations in different areas of operation

Exposure evaluation of the facility to turn the audit information into effective Evaluation of the environmental risk associated with facility operations

Exposure evaluation of the facility to turn the audit information into effective Status review of the environmental management systems in place to control environmental activities

The steps involved following the conclusion of Phase I or the initial audit phase are as follows:

Exposure evaluation of the facility to turn the audit information into effective management actions. This results in minimization of environmental liabilities at the facility

Preparation of a comprehensive report outlining the facility’s compliance status, and identification of available options for improving environmental management activities

Creation of an audit program for the company containing specific procedures, guidelines, and materials for use in conducting self-audits

Conducting orientation and training the audit staff for in-house audit of the facility

At the conclusion of the audit, AQMS identifies the areas of potential non-compliance with applicable regulations, and defines options and relevant course of action to improve environmental management. 1995 Price Waterhouse survey indicated the following reasons for performing audits:

Exposure evaluation of the facility to turn the audit information into effective Problems can be identified internally and corrected before they are discovered by an agency (96%)
